SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Our client is a start-up with a breakthrough technology product line with both medical and military applications. These products have been designed in collaboration with world class scientists and engineers.

The CEO will have primary responsibility for managing company operations, the overall growth strategy, organizational leadership, financial and organizational management, external communications, marketing and sales efforts. He/she will also be responsible for development and management of advisor and investor relationships.

Responsibilities:

Fund Raising:

• Close a licensing deal with a medical device company providing market channel for orthotic products along with development funds for such products.
• Develop relationships with venture capitalists and/or angel investors and obtain financing at reasonable terms when it becomes necessary.
• Maintain a strategic partnership with a major defense contractor to provide market channel and/or development funds in the defense market.

Marketing and Sales:

• Create a sales and marketing team (or strategic partnerships) capable of closing a major acquisition program medical and other possible markets.
• Maintain current sales and marketing effort with the U.S. military.

Company Structure:

• Work with founders to determine company growth strategy with highest likelihood of success.
• Help build an excellent board of directors and board of advisors.
• Oversee company finances.
• Negotiate legal contracts for the company. Serve as main point of contact with all attorneys working with the company other than our patent attorney.
• Oversee day-to-day business management issues such as HR, payroll, insurance and income tax.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of work experience in medical device industry.
• Prior DoD contractor experience desirable.
• Must be experienced entrepreneur who has taken at least one start-up from Series A all the way to an investor's exit strategy.
• A successful track record of leading start-ups through their growth phase.
• Extensive experience in fund raising through capitalists and/or angel investors.
• Advanced degree in engineering, business administration or equivalent.
• Individual should have strong connections with players in the medical arena and be well respected in that community.
• Must have deep understanding of the processes, people, and criteria involved in penetrating either medical or defense markets.
• Must be an articulate program advocate.
• Excellent C-level contacts at Lockheed Martin highly desirable.

Compensation packet includes salary and equity.
