Our client is an early stage Web 2.0 startup with an online platform that allows athletes at all levels to upload their information and videos so that sponsors, clubs and leagues can access up-and-coming talent, and involve more people in their sports-related marketing. The founder of the company has a stellar record, having built and sold his last company, and the team he has put together is equally strong. The software development is complete and launched, and now we are looking for a CEO who will head up strategy and growth of this arm of the company. You MUST have experience within the sports industry, perhaps with a pro club, or as part of a league, with contacts and a deep understanding of athletes and the business and processes of the sports world. There is already a great person on the team with the business development relationships with brands and sponsors, so your contacts and connections with sports teams and leagues will round out the picture. We are looking for a strong track record in building sales and generating revenue, and the entrepreneurial spirit to come into a lean and mean startup organization, and to build a team that will turn this great idea and top-quality web-based software into the leader in this market. And of course, we are looking for a strategic and creative thinker, and an inspiring leader who can get the most out of the talents of the people on their team. Because this is a startup, and they are in the process of getting another round of financing for their growth, we are looking for someone who has the ability to work for equity in lieu of a paycheck until that funding comes through.
