Our client is a seasoned pro in the complex world of enterprise software sales, and they have done the groundwork for creating a web-based platform that will allow corporate software buyers to navigate the confusing and mysterious world of small niche software offerings, much in the same way that a company like eHarmony matches up people who are looking for each other. This new website will allow small and medium-sized niche software companies to post up their profiles and capabilities, and software buyers to browse through potential vendors and put up their own requirements and profiles to solicit proposals. It’s like social networking and matchmaking for software sellers and buyers, and there is an added value component that allows users to share criteria, feedback and recommendations from peers and experts. So far, they have gotten very clear about what this web 2.0 software will need to do, and work has begun on the prototype, but there were some bumps in the road, like trying to outsource, which took four times as long with disappointing results, and having the founding CTO leave to work on another project (he’s still available to answer questions, though). All of this adds up to a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial CTO to come in as a co-founder, and to pick up the ball from here, to complete the prototype and then to build out the 1.0 version, and make it workable to bring it into the marketplace for funding and growth. You will be partnering with an outstanding CEO whose experience selling software is truly stellar, and who really understands the market, and on top of that, he is a brilliant, analytical, funny and cool guy who would be great to work with. You are a hands-on talented CTO who can architect, manage and oversee the development process, and you have created a complex web-based software in the past, so you know what it takes. Your areas of expertise are Web 2.0, social networking, and creating manageable online data for a website that goes beyond key words and simple profiles. You love building enticing and usable websites, and have the heart of an entrepreneur… you like to take risks to make your mark and are excited at the idea of investing your time now for potential financial success down the road (fingers crossed). It’s OK (and maybe even better) if you have other part-time commitments or consulting projects, since you will be working for equity only, and it will probably be a while before the company is ready to be fundable, so no paycheck until then; they will even consider you if you have a full-time job, but still have the energy and time to put in productive hours on nights and weekends. Brilliant is important, Web 2.0 expertise and a visionary scope are key, but years of experience is immaterial. You do need to be in, or near, the Bay Area, and be used to working virtually and producing results on time and under budget, however it needs to get done. If this sounds like you, and you have the technical know-how as a CTO of a web-based company, and have been looking to be part of building a new website and company from scratch, we want to hear from you. You MUST include a cover note that lets us know you have read the posting, and understand what we are asking for, and please make sure to include links for websites you have been integral in building so we can see what you’ve done. Send your resume and information to leslie@peopleconnectstaffing.com. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
