BERKELEY, CA
Our client is an early-stage exercise equipment manufacturer. They currently have several fast selling products and are in the process of developing more. At the core of the company is a group of dynamic, hard working individuals who balance work and play. The founder was the founder/creator of one of the most successful pieces of exercise equipment.

The ideal candidate will bring a sense of adventure, business savvy and strong background in C-level roles, including startup and successful fund raising through investors. This person will have taken at least one early-stage startup through its full life cycle, including reaching a successful liquidity event. Critical to this role is experience in bringing a product or products to domestic and global markets successfully. A huge plus is someone who works out on a daily basis and is in great physical shape!

In addition, this winning candidate will have experience in direct marketing such as TV ads and Web 2.0/online marketing, along with traditional marketing knowledge. Prior retail experience is highly desired.

The CEO will provide effective leadership to position the company at the forefront of the industry. In addition, the CEO will implement and further develop their strategic plan to raise funding from investors, lead the team in bringing their products to marketing, promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization. The incumbent will also oversee company operations to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

• Develop relationships with venture capitalists and/or angel investors and obtain financing at reasonable terms when it becomes necessary.
• Work with the founder to determine company growth strategy with highest likelihood of success.
• Be the outward facing person for the company to investors, key vendors, partners and the public.
• Develop and lead the effort of bringing the company’s products to the domestic and global market successfully.
• Oversee company operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources.
• Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the company.

What You Will Bring To The Table:

• 7+ years of work experience in a senior level role, including a C-level position.
• Must be an experienced entrepreneur who has taken at least one startup from early stage (pre-Series A) all the way to an investor's exit strategy.
• A successful track record of leading startups through their growth phase.
• Extensive experience in fund raising through capitalists and/or angel investors.
• Experience in successfully bringing new, innovative products to market.
• Experience in strategic planning and execution.
• Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
• Prior retail experience is desired but not required.
• Strong commitment to a customer service focused culture.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, calm manner in the face of turbulence.
• Value employees’ innovations and ideas as contributions to the organization.
• Desire to keep work place culture one of where employees like coming to work, feel respected and truly valued by all levels of management.
• Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree a plus.
