Our client has developed an independent, fan-based news and media internet company focused on pro and college sports. Think of a cross between American Idol, YouTube and MySpace for Sports Fans. This is fan-based journalism at its best, allowing sports enthusiasts to see official fan reports on their favorite teams in the U.S. and Canada, with the ability to scale globally. As CEO, you will be tasked with providing effective leadership and executing against the game plan. You will also be tasked with implementing and further developing the company’s strategic plan to bring in capital and raise funding from investors, as well as building and leading the team to promote profitability and growth. You will work closely with the founder to determine the company’s growth strategy with the highest likelihood of success. Your background must include a successful track record raising funds through various investor types (VCs, angels, etc); successfully executing against strategic/business plan; successfully bring a start-up into a strong/leadership position; building a team and organization from the ground up; and strong operational management skills mixed with excellent long term vision. Your background must include internet media and a passion for sports. The ideal candidates will also have experience and contacts in sports media (think FoxSports.com Yahoo Sports).
