Note: This is an unusual startup situation, so please read the whole posting and follow the instructions about how to submit your resume. Thank you! Our client is a seasoned pro with a great track record in the complex world of enterprise software sales, and they know that one of the key things any enterprise buyer wants to know is how much return on their investment they would get using that software. Customers want to know what’s in it for them, and if it doesn’t save them money, they are not interested. This ROI number-crunching process is usually done with an Excel spreadsheet, which is both time-consuming and prone to errors in calculations. To solve this problem, this new company is building a web-based platform that will give software companies an easy-to-use web interface that walks a potential customer through the important questions to come up with their potential ROI, in the same way that Turbo Tax walks a user through step by step to come up with how much tax they owe. So far, they know that there is a market for this software, and they know what this web 2.0 software interface will need to do, and now it’s time to build out the web application to get it into beta mode, so that they can continue the product design to address the needs of their market. All of this adds up to a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial CTO, because the founder is looking for a technical co-founder, someone who can visualize and brainstorm how it should best work, and then complete the prototype, and move forward in crafting a solution that fills a very important and not-yet-addressed niche. Your partner will be an outstanding CEO/founder whose success in selling software is truly stellar, and who really understands the market. On top of that, he is a brilliant, analytical, funny and cool guy who would be great to work with. You are a hands-on talented CTO (or ready-to-be-a CTO) who can architect, manage and oversee the development process. You have created a complex web-based software in the past, and your areas of expertise are web 2.0, web applications, and creating manageable online data that produces meaningful reports. You love building enticing and usable websites, and you have the heart of an entrepreneur… you like to take risks to make your mark and are excited at the idea of investing your time now for potential financial success down the road (fingers crossed). It’s OK (and actually preferable) if you have other part-time commitments or consulting projects, since as a co-founder, you will be working for equity only, and it will probably be a while before the company is ready to be fundable, so there will be no paycheck until then. You might even have a full-time job (with no contractual limitations for moonlighting), and still have the energy and time to put in productive hours on nights and weekends. Brilliant is important; Web 2.0 expertise and a visionary scope are key, but years of experience doesn’t matter. You do need to be in, or near, the Bay Area, and be used to working virtually and producing results on time and under budget, however it needs to get done. If this sounds like you, and you have the technical know-how to create this web application, and to be a CTO of a web-based company, and if you have been longing for an entrepreneurial situation where you can be part of building a new website and company from scratch, we want to hear from you. Note: You MUST include a personal non-boilerplate cover note that lets us know you have read the description of the job and situation, and understand what we’re asking for. Please make sure to include links for websites you have been integral in building so we can see what you’ve done. Send your resume and information to leslie@peopleconnectstaffing.com, we’re looking forward to hearing from you!
