Our client has developed an independent, fan-based news and media internet company focused on pro and college sports. Think of it as a cross between American Idol, YouTube and MySpace for Sports Fans. This is fan-based journalism at its best, allowing sports enthusiasts to see official fan reports on their favorite teams in the U.S. and Canada, with the ability to scale globally. As CEO, you will immediately be tasked with bringing in capital and fundraising while providing effective leadership and executing against the game plan. You will also be tasked with implementing and further developing the company’s strategic plan to bring in capital and raise funding from investors, as well as building and leading the team to promote profitability and growth. You will work closely with the founder to determine the company’s growth strategy with the highest likelihood of success. Your working background must include: • Quickly bringing in capital and other investments/funding to achieve the company’s objectives. • Working in any of the following domains: sports media; internet media; user-generated content, community and commerce with attention to hyperlocal content. • Successfully executing against strategic/business plan. • Successfully bringing a start-up into a strong/leadership position. • Building a team and organization from the ground up. • Strong operational management skills mixed with excellent long term vision.
