VP of Engineering/VP of Product (7001G)

LOCATION: SAN FRANCISCO, CA

Our client is building a global network of institutional investors, a market which is $7 Trillion globally and is changing the way institutions invest, hire, and analyze opportunities.

You will own the full lifecycle of software development: from problem definition, through planning and prototyping, followed by development and testing, and continuing with enhancements and new features. You will have the opportunity to run a product and be responsible for its growth. They promise your input will make a difference. Duties: • Lead and expand the existing engineering team; identify new talent; manage, mentor & retain all members of the team. • Maintain efficient technical systems that enable us to run at high gross margin. • Participate as a leader to define and implement product roadmap. • Maintain culture, set up recruiting strategies, implement process to allow scale and, ultimately, create the best engineering organization. • Continually improve and optimize the product development process. • Work closely with product and operations teams and company leaders to ensure the technology platform is evolving to meet company needs. • Help set the technical direction for the team, drive the evolution of the systems architecture, and make appropriate technology choices. • Set and manage expectations, communicate and execute goals within timelines.

We expect to see: • Proven ability to build a compelling user experience and find product-market fit • Experience building social apps • 3+ years of experience managing a world-class engineering team in a rapidly growing environment. • Ability to inspire others through conviction of clearly defined vision. • Background in managing web development and solid familiarity with managing team for the following technologies: Python web framework such as Django, HTML5, Java, JavaScript, CSS3, databases. • History of strong leadership and driving change with the ability to maintain collaborative culture and build team loyalty. • Ability to formulate and articulate strategy and effectively drive consensus across the organization. • Previously managed, mentored, motivated and grew a mature and goal-driven engineering team. • Proven ability to attract all levels of software engineering talent from the college through principal architect level. • Track record of establishing processes and best practices that allow for the core technology stack to be scalable, flexible, and supportive of rapid feature development. • Ability to serve as a collaborative and helpful “peer” with product and technical operations teams.
