C-Level Business Development Executive (7050A)

LOCATION: ANYWHERE IN THE US

Our client is a wastewater remediation technology company whose proprietary biocatalysts optimize biosolids reduction in wastewater treatment plants and prevents foaming and improved solids handling for animal production facilities. This technology offers a cost-effective and zero-footprint solution to biosolids accumulation, improving operations, reducing environmental impacts and streamlining regulatory compliance. With that said, they are currently seeking an experienced C-Level Executive / Business Development to join their growing team as an Officer of the Company.

This position can sit remotely anywhere in the continental US.

On a daily basis as the C-Level Business Development Executive, you will:

  • Define the Company’s technology vision, innovation strategy and product development roadmap
  • Be responsible for both product planning and product marketing, managing Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
  • Partner with the CEO to work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
  • Lead and support the development of the technical aspects of core positioning and messaging for our products
  • Define, prototype and validate and aid in the customer qualification process, being involved in lead qualification activities and relationship management within the technology organization of customers or partners
  • Define the Company’s patent strategy and lead all patent management and acquisition activities to sustain and grow Company value
  • Manage relationships with key service providers (business development), including patent counsel, chemical and equipment providers, 3rd party testing entities, and engineering design or product development organizations
  • In coordination with the CEO and commercial team members and scientific advisers, support the identification of new product, market, and partner / business development opportunities across the Company’s technology portfolio, evaluating and prioritizing the attractiveness of market segments and products, and helping determine overall strategies and resources the Company should devote in pursuing them
  • Be instrumental in maintaining market intelligence, so the Company can remain current on technical and product development activities of relevant industry players (partners, competitors, customers, etc.), and use the information to understand and explain changes and trends in the technology landscape
  • Establish connections and build long-term relationships with senior technical leaders and decision makers at partner or customer organizations, resulting in the development of a clear “voice of customer” perspective for the Company’s technology and product development activities
  • Provide current information on the technical and product development activities of relevant industry players (partners, competitors, customers, etc.)

Your background as a C-Level Business Development professional includes:

  • An advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in microbiology, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related discipline (required)
  • At least fifteen years of experience in a senior role, leading multifunctional teams in commercializing material-enabled product technologies
  • Expertise in materials, systems, and treatment technologies for municipal wastewater treatment (required)
  • Demonstrated track record of new product ideation, development, prototyping qualification and rapid launch (<12 data-preserve-html-node="true" months) - ideally of products for municipal wastewater treatment
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment, ideally at a start-up or as an early employee of a rapidly scaling technology organization
  • Experience managing a complex patent portfolio and leading strategic and tactical intellectual property activity (landscape analysis, internal FTO assessments, patent writing and claim construction, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a non-hierarchical (no ego), resource-constrained, “do it yourself,” environment
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
